Have any of you flown with your fly rods as carry-on since the latest round
of crap has hit the TSA fan?

Danl,
I'm flying North-West to Missoula in a couple weeks.
I called them to get an answer to that very question.
They said NO! Rods must be checked!!

Hm. This is still up on TSA's site, even after it's been updated with
the new restrictions on liquids:

I would definitely call your airline, refer to the TSA site, and hope
for the best.

Unless you're off to fish the Test and Itchen.....

Greetings from Coeur D' Alene Idaho, where I flew from Indianapolis to
Spokane via Chicago on Saturday 8/14. I went through security at Indy
and O'Hare (place needs a designated smoking area). Three rods in their
tube and reels in their cases were carried onto United Airlines flight.
The TSA screener in Inday asked me what I had in there and that was the
extent of the questions. I would say that Northwest told you wrong.

Oh yea, the fishing's been pretty good out here.
