Default New Rod & Reel

I finally got to play with my new Shimano Curado with a 6-1/2 BPS Extreme
rod over the past weekend.

I was hooked after several play casts. I don't think I'll buy another
baitcaster.

The rod seemed nice also.....now I just have to wait till the last weekend
in June when the season opens to really have fun with them.

I'm in Ohio, but I do all my fishing up in Ontario, Canada where we have
a cottage.

Dan,

This past weekend I also just got a chance to get out with my new
Curado that I picked up over the winter. Things have been so busy at
work, and it seems like every weekend it has been raining, it was the
first time out this year. I spent more time baiting hooks for my 6yr
old than I did actually fishing. Lasted about 3 hours before the rain
moved back in. The family caught 3 LM and just missed a 4th. We
forgot the camera or I would post pictures.

I had not thrown a baitcaster in 10+ years. After about 3 tosses, I
was throwing spinner baits further than I ever did before with my
spinning rigs. I cannot wait to see how it performs when I get the
nerve to remove the brakes...

For the record, the missed fish was mine (about 8" - saw it, but did
not get it with in 5' of shore). My wife caught 2 (7" & 10"). The
6yr old won the "big fish" honors by landing a 15" - the biggest fish
of his life, and the last fish of the day.

Not bad for a lake more know for it's LARGE blue gill's than for its
Bass.

Kurt

Sounds like a good day.

The 'fun' up there is that anything smaller than 12", you have to
release. We usually keep the 2-3 lbs. to eat, and release the bigger
boys. I got a 5# SM up there last year.

Lots of bluegill there also, but the best part is the perch hit like
little bass up there. Much more agressive than what I was used to as a
kid on Lake Erie.
