Made it home

Had a great time in Rhinelander, as usual. Thanks to Steve and Janet
for all you do to make the trip good. I was disappointed in my finish,
dropping to 4th, but that's fishing.

Left Rhinelander Saturdayat 9 am GA time and it was 34 degrees with a
predicted high of 72. 16 hours, 45 minutes and 1001 miles later I
pulled into the parking lot at Gault's Ferry landing on Lake Alltoona
at 2 am. Slept somewhat for three hours in the truck then fished a club
tournament. Got two keeper spots - on on the prototype spinnerbait Joe
made for me and another on the same rocky point on a jig and pig.
Together they weighed 3,81 pounds, good for 7th place. Worth it, I
guess. After another 80 miles I got home at 4 pm on Sunday.

Already looking forward to next year!

BTW it was 72 degrees at 2 am at Allatoona, got up into the upper 80s
by quitting time. REALLY missed that Rhinelander weather!

It's been raining here nonstop till today. I put the leathers on and
rode over to the drugstore in the next town. It was a bit brisk...But
refreshing :}

Hey Ronnie, this is off topic for this post, but I was reading my Sept.
issue of Arkansas Sportsman magizine and ran into and article titled '4
Baits for September Bass' written by you. with a picture of Fritz Nordengren
holding up a 2 1/2 pound bass. I have no Idea how long ago you wrote that,
but it was cool to see your name and article in the magizine. Good article
as well.

subscription to Georgia Outdoor News. I have enjoyed reading them for years

i have a lot of fun writing those articles for GON - went back to
Allatoona yesterday and fished with Robert Castleberry for my October
Map Of The Month article. He got two very nice spots on the first
place we stopped, but the October pattern we were working on has not
really kicked in yet.

Those articles are very state and lake specific, as are most of my
Georgia Sportsman articles. I have more general articles on my site -
the one featured this week is " Finding Bass On A New Lake" - an idea
that came to me when I went to Truman Lake in MO three weeks ago.

Glad you enjoy those articles!

Thanks - for slick mags like Game and Fish publications I have to write
them six months in advance, so that was written last May, about the
time Fritz and I fished Center Hill. That is where the shot was taken,
on the bridge way up the river. That is my first regional article for
them although I have been writing for Georgia Sportsman for about 15
years.

Thansk for the comment about me fishing, too. I can fish - have missed
only 17 days so far this year. Now if I could just figure out how to
catch bass better!

We Finally made it home as we left Rhinelander for a week at Plum Lake just
outside of Sayner, Wis.
Had a great time in Rhinelander and wished we had more time in Rhinelander
but the itch for Plum was too great. We caught some very nice smallies
through out the week with the biggest just at 5 lbs and a 4-12 smallie for
myself plus many more. BTW Turtle was 4' low and was very difficult to fish
anyway.......
I too wish to Thank Steve and Janet for their hospitality and again hosting
this years event....Thanks
