Hi folks
I am planning a one week holiday visit in Scotland in May this year. If we manage to get holiday resort with my wife, I am interested to find fishing spots in the short distance. Anyone can help me? My wife's niece is in Scotland at that time. And we are visiting her. The Dee river is close. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance, Osmo |

Sandy,
I have 6 pc #5-#6 9' travel rod and another 5 pc #4-#5 shorter rod which are easy to carry with by flight. I also have a couple of 4 pc hevier rods, up to #9 weight class. What is the typical size for trout? Are those lighter rods ok? I suppose that there is no salmon at that time. Right? Thanks Osmo The Don, a few miles farther North, has the reputation of being the better trout water, the Dee being better known for its salmon. |

As you know the usual rods for salmon over here are double handed 12 to 16 feet, what Americans call 'Spey' rods. I don't know the Dee but if the beat you fish isn't too big then the #9 weight would probably do.
