Howdy,

I don't remember seeing this posted here, so apollyloggies if it's a
re-run, but here's a PBS site in Washington state that has some fun
flytying videos: http://www.kwsu.org/Offers/OMNFlyTying.aspx

You'll need to download the Open Media Network client/player to view
them, but that's simple enough to do.

Enjoy!

I am waiting for an episode to download right now. I used to watch this
series when it was first aired on PBS, and really enjoyed it, so I am
looking forward to viewing it on demand. Thanks for the useful link.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun for me to see someone
tying those flies, as I am totally self-taught, and I see I've got a lot
of bad habits. (Such as unnecessary thread wraps.)

would be happy to tell you about)

Tried it but cannot get it to work at all. I am behind a company
firewall but despite checking the proxy option there is no response
whatsoever :-(

I render a guess he
If you can't download the software. . . .
- your systems administrator is smart enough to disallow software downloads,
which spread viruses, hog system resources, and cause phone calls to the
helpdesk with whiny voices saying, "My system is running really slow. What?
No, of course not - I didn't do anything."

If you can't download the video. . . .
- your systems administrator is smart enough to disallow 265MB file
downloads which fill disks, cause system crashes, and suck the entire
company's bandwidth dry. Again, whiny voices abound and nobody knows
anything about it.

Not the issues as SW is safely here and installed.

Neither the case since I have almost unlimited disk space available. By
guess is therefore that the connection settings and the security is the
problem.

Do you know much about this "OMN" stuff, beyond the basics (PBS
partnership, supposedly an improvement to "plain" .wmv, etc.)? IOW, any
guesses as to why they didn't just use a more-standard format without
the add-on?

I'll hazard a guess: for a media standard to be "open" it can't depend on
anything with an attached patent, trademark or copywrite. So the media has to
be different, which in turn requires a player that recognizes that unique
standard media...
