mountain trout fishing after a rain is usually active as bugs have been
washed into stream. Being new to bass fishing I jumped into my kayak and fished my local bass pond { 21 acre-90% under four feet] after a summer hard rain shower yesterday. Wind was flat- water a sort of olive color- with water still warm .. Tried most baits and only got one fish" Usually 6 or 8 per hour- around 12 inch-- How do you find fishing after rain ? Any suggestions? Joe |

Otherwise, especilly with all the shallow water, I would throw a topwater bait like a buzzbait or popper and cover a lot of water, making long casts across flats, especially if there is cover on it. Clouds and rain often make bass come shallow to feed. If the sun comes out right after the rain all bets are off, in my experience. That will drive them back deep. Ronnie http://fishing.about.com |

As to the spot on the spot.... On almost all inflows in ponds there will be a delta formed in the pond around it. Its not always substantial, but its there. Bass will often congregate on the downstream side of it. Quite oftne in man made ponds this is the only substantial structure in the entire pond. Guess what?! It can be a good spot for early morning fish that move up to use as an ambush spot even in totally stable non rainy weather. -- Bob La Londe Fishing Arizona & The Colorado River Fishing Forums & Contests http://www.YumaBassMan.com -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

![]() "John B" wrote had real good luck throwing a plastic worm right against the bank. In my "amateur" opinion, the bass might think that after a rain the banks supply them with an abundance of worm creatures. This works especially well for me when the rain is heavy, and the lake is up into the grass...the shallower the better! My best plastic for these conditions has been a "smoke" colored straight tail, but "chocolate / neon blue" comes in a strong second, followed by "peanut butter and jelly". Just my personal experience..... John K Joe replies--I got so close to bank that wild cast of senko landed six feet up in a big pile of bushes' I paddled over and tried to free hook but spooked two large fledglings who hopped out of nest and jumped around. in the bushes. They could not fly yet so I paddled away--think they were black crowned night herons. I was using a watermelon colored plastic but they did not seem interested. |

I think yer right John B. Never tried that color before, but I think your
theory hold a lot of (excuse the expression) water . . . and bass ! -- God Bless America Josh The Bad Bear |
