Revisited.

Because they might just die on you before you get a chance to go fishing if
you blow it off.

I had a fellow sound me out a few years back who I'ld been friendly with off
and on at various functions over the years. I kinda blew him off when he
made noises like he might like to be taken fishing. I was busy with work
and life in general and figured there would be plenty of time. I was wrong.
He ain't around anymore. The next time I saw him was at his funeral.

That's been a while and it still bothers me.

After losing both of my parents, as well as my wife's parents, plus 20 years
of emergency response work, watching people die has become somewhat second
nature to me. But you're right Bob, it IS important to take time for
friends, family and living life. It only took my one heart attack to drive
that point home.

Don't get caught up in all life's little things and remember to make time
for the important ones. Don't let it bother you, do something about it!

Fishermen who have passed on often leave widows behind who miss the fish
tales and eating fish. My dad often brought bass home and gave them away to
the little old ladies whose husbands were gone. He and all the guys who do
this make a lot of ladies happy for a while. They always thanked him for the
fish - and the memories.

Oh, and unlike other fish he gave away, not a single widow lady ever asked
him to clean her fish g Except for his own he did not clean ANYBODY's
fish, and if anybody asked, he never offered any more G

Good luck!

Hi Bob,

Maybe you ought to rethink that invitation to go after Peacocks with
us this November, Bob. Last I heard there's still space left on the
boat.

Around Thanksgiving its probably pretty hard to fill it. I'm working on it.
Gotta have work going and guys to cover it.

Bob,

It'd be a pleasure to meet you after all this time in the other
newsgroup. BTW, the M109R is a *ton* of fun.

I just posted a Q to a new thread regarding spinning rods. Any
suggestions?

Didn't see that. Saw your questions about braid though. For spinnign rods
you really can't beat St Croix. The premier line runs around $100 depending
on action and the Avid series run about 170-200. The Avids are a little
lighter (weight) but other wise most anglers wouldn't notice the difference
between them and the Premier series.

Back to Back Uni knot for braid to mono or braid to flourocarbon line works
best. I agree with Steve. For most applications I'ld tie the braid
straight onto the lure.

Thanks Bob & Steve,

Sounds like it's 2 for 0 in favor of braid to the lure. I'll try
that. I already bought a St Croix Premier 2-piece to practice with.
Maybe I'll get an Avid as well. I think if I pack it diagonally it
will fit in my regular luggage along with a couple of reels. Do you
think the Penn 550SSg is a good choice for peacock bass?

BTW, last week I pulled a really dumb stunt. I had left a Highroller
lure with two treble hooks in the soft bag of my bike because it was
caught on the insulation. I was planning to cut it loose when I got
home. Note to self: never put lures in canvas bags. Doh. The
results were what you might expect. :^(

I did gain some valuable knowledge in the process beyond not carrying
loose lures in my saddle bags. The doctor at the ER is a devout
fisherman. He taught me how to pop a hook out without cutting the
barb by pushing down (sideways) on the tail and yanking it out with a
loop of fishing line. That's how he does it in the field. Was this
something everyone but me already knows?
