Default Saturday morning in middle class America

Hi All U ROFFians,

It is Saturday morning here in the "Republic of Davis", California, United
States of America. My wonderful wife just brought me a good cup of freshly
ground and brewed Starbucks coffee. I am sitting here at home in my paisley
pajamas at my almost new Dell PC which I special ordered with "fuel
injection" and a "five speed". Life is good. I hope my arteries are still
open and I don't have "total body cancer"? Well at 58 years old I feel like
crap but I am so lucky. I guess we could have been born in Afghanistan? I
love it when people "knock" the US, but I see more people coming here than
leaving?

I should be out fishing on one of our many local valley rivers which have
plenty of steelhead in them now. The stripers are moving into the Sacramento
Delta for the winter as we type (peck) here with both fingers. We actually
went from summer to winter here in Nor Cal while I was in NC last week. At
my age I am not as excited about getting numb to catch fish. I guess the
last 20 years of fishing in the tropics has spoiled me. Well those younger
ones can go out now and freeze their butts off.

My fly shop will be opening up in a few minutes (9am PST) in Sacramento and
my excellent friendly staff will be taking care of my lovely customers for
me so I can have a my weekend off. Funny thing now, when my wife and I go to
Florida for two weeks to visit our grandchildren and fish a little, my guys
will sometime do more business than when we are there. Does that mean that
they don't need me? Oh no.........not needed? I thought I was so important.
Maybe not. Seriously, it is great to be able to take off for a few weeks and
relax and not worry about the shop. I have a great crew.

I hope everyone is doing well and your families are OK too. I am very lucky
and I hope it stays that way for a while.

PS: rw, where are you now?
