My buddy ( who moved far, far away) and I just went to Michigan to hunt for
mushrooms....it was the classic Delia...we went to far north and got skunked... BUT! The walks in the woods, the deer, the deer skeletons, the turkey....the big piles of turkey feather from some lucky animals lunch...gosh, it was so nice... That was last week. Now next week I am headed to American Electric Power Recreation Lands... http://www.aep.com/environmental/rec...d/default.aspx this is rather odd, because in 1969/1970 when I was in school, I hitch hiked to this place to do a report for my Geology 101 class. It was a freaking lunar landscaper with not a green thing in site. The sulfur and the slag were an abomination to my eyes! But, the powers that be directed that this area be reclaimed and now there are thousands of acres of verdant hills and valleys, beaver ponds and lakes that are just beyond description. The lakes are ponds are full of bream and bluegill and bass. It is kind of weird...I mean you would think you are a greenpeace member because every fish is kept as my old friends all get together and kill everything they catch....but the wardens all thank us because the ponds and lakes are so overpopulated that they need to be thinned out....and I don't even eat fish! So, I am off to there in the morning...I shall return, regroup and be of to Penns the following week.. Gosh...it's just a spring with old friends....what could be better! john |
