From afar, or at first glance, one might think my 'home water' was far
better than it really is. It does contain trout, steelhead, salmon and stripers. It does have special regulations ... zero limit.... single barbless hook. It has even made national fly fishing magazines in 'places to go' articles. But, in fact, it's not that good. Admittedly, I say that as a very spoiled old trout bum, but it's still the truth. They close the river in Fall for what's left of the salmon run. It opens again New Year's Day. The only time I fish it is in the couple months from opener until the flows are raised for irrigation. I have had some good days nymphing, over the years, and even a few during baetis fishing to risers. Best fish I've taken was a lovely 19inch Bow but most are more like 11 inches. Today, however, was a bust. It started when I pulled my Tilley fishing hat out of the back seat and plopped it on my head. Nearly instantly I felt a sharp pain. Investigation revealed the bee that had stung me on the forehead ... not a good start. There WAS a pretty strong baetis emergence between noon and 2 but I never saw a rise or flash beneath the surface and nothing took my little PT nymph ( that I noticed ). The only other angler I saw had come all the way over from the Bay Area and been skunked, .... so my 5 mile drive and skunked wins, imho ;-) It WAS a lovely sunny, warm day and it WAS nice to get out. But, UM, JR, ..... I'm pretty sure sex would have been better G |

Even before I retired, I traveled to Montahoming several trips each year on business and did most of my fishing on those trips. The places I DO know don't open until general trout season, late April, I think. I'll ask some buddies and report IF I get some good info. |

Haven't for years. Many years ago -- 69-71 -- I had good success waaaaaay up on the Kern River NE of B'Field. Prolly all stripped and developed by now. Then tried the Russian River and found it full of bulldozers with "chess knight" logos on the sides. Don't know what was going on, so quit. Best luck I had was bass fishing in irrigation ponds around the fringes of the Mojave. cheers oz, who never went back |

It's all about hatred for him. He just loves sending off nastygrams to ROFF. It would be pathetic if he weren't such a miserable waste of carbon. BTW, I just booked a guided trip to Xcalak in the Yucatan with Willi. Possibiilties for bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook. I'm going to get some practice before I go to the Seychelles. That should REALLY get him going. |

Oh, heck, there's oodles of people I've never attacked, Just so many hours in a day, you know. Steve simply stated a fact that he's never had success in Calfornia and you attack him for it. *Why? You think I said something about his lack of success in California? Why? Is life so miserable for you that you can only get your jollies by attacking folks. There are times when things look pretty bleak. For example, the sun isn't shining here right now. And yeah, if somebody's non-Aryan, non- military, non-Republican pigtailed six year old granddaughter were trudging down the sidewalk through the snow right now, clutching her precious books on her way to school, I'd probably lob some rotten tomatoes at her.....or maybe an incendiary device. ![]() Goodness, what a miserable human being you must be inside where no one can see. Not getting any better on the outside either. You are worse than he who must'nt be named. Right off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone I must not name. Who are talking about here? Are you reading this? I think so. Hmmmmm. Hm..... I must be educated enough to communicate with the great communicator himself, Wolfgang And yet, you STILL think education is a joke. * I-Know-It-All. You just asked six questions. Odd sort of behavior for someone who knows it all. On the other hand, maybe they just look like questions. Dave Moron. g. |
