: I lived in Anchorage for about 18 years, but just recently moved to Dallas, Tx. For the fly-in float plane trips I would recommend probably Rusts Flying Service in Anchorage....fly somewhere other than the Kenai peninsula. For river boat fishing try either Mahay's in Talkeetna or Klutina River Charters out of Glennallen. There are several guides for the Kenai river and some of the best king fishing is there, but you will be fighting the crowds a lot more than if you head for some of the less- traveled areas. For Halibut, definitely go out of Homer.....the charters there have continual success at big fish....elsewhere they can get some nice fish, but you also have more of a chance of getting skunked. I highly recommend Silver Fox Charters.....they are not the cheapest, but they do a fine job of guiding and consistently pull in big fish. All of these are IMHO of course. Best of luck. I could use some GOOD sport fishing contacts for automobile (van) rentals, 1 day float plane fishing trips, day halibut outfitters, day salmon river boat fishing, all in the Kenai peninsula area. I've been years ago, but this time it's a father son deal. My son has given me a granddaughter that I love dearly and I want to reward him for that. Thank you for your suggestions Tom |
