Default Tetons

Hello all:
First time on this newsgroup, and a newbie to boot. Third crime, is I'm
asking for stream advice! Will be spending several days this Aug in the
Tetons. Options are wide open as long as they are within a day-hike in.
Would like to hear recommendations for good spots, patterns, techniques or
any other thoughts. Will be fishing with my two boys (11 and 14) who are
mostly Shenandoah Valley smallmouth spin-casters, but which I hope to
'convert' by putting 4wt 7'6" dry fly rods in their hands.
Comments or suggestions?
thx

The "Big Titties" are tough fishing. You might want to expand your
options to include a days drive.

As I said, I just returned from there. On the Wyoming side the Snake River
is the dominant stream. It seems that a float trip is required, but the
fishing is supposed to be quite good.

On the Idaho side, you can fish the Teton River in many places. Near
Driggs, it is widely publicized, but I found the stream was thick with weeds
and difficult to fish and wade. Downstream in the canyon, the conditions
are better, but hard to get to. If you can get into and out of the canyon,
the fishing is very good. A good but strange location is the abandoned
Teton Dam. Some large cutthroats near the old spillway. It is a long hike
from the old lookout point.

There's lots of fishing in the area, some easy and others not so easy.
I suggest you visit Jack Dennis's web page, and go from there. Jack has a
fly shop in Jackson Hole.

www.jackdennis.com

It's a big area, so you'll be doing some driving, but there are plenty of
spots where you and your sons should be able to find some fish.
