They have a pretty good stocking program in the "urban lakes" in the
Phoenix/Tempe area. I forget the name (been gone for two years from there)
but there is a pretty good size urban lake on the South edge of Tempe that
has had some pretty big catfish pulled from it. Other than that..Lake
Pleasant on the NW side of Phoenix is pretty good for bass as is Apache Lake
NE of Tempe along the Apache Trail. Bartlett Lake, N of Tempe and
Scottsdale has a good reputation for catfish. Along the Apache Trail are
Saguaro, Canyon, Apache and Roosevelt, all close enough for a day trip.
Roosevelt is the biggest and has some pretty large catfish. All have public
boat landings but forget Saguaro and Canyon on the weekend. If you get to
the lake before 7 am you might be allowed on the water, any later and you'll
have to wait your turn as the rangers let one boat on as one boat leaves.
