Which reel?

Okay, I admit it...there's too much choice for a dork beginner.

My son and I both need new reels for sea fishing. I have gathered that
"baitrunner" style is to be preffered over "beachcaster" style and I even
understand the difference.

Trouble is, in the sub£50 price range there must be any number of "the
perfect baitrunner reel for you sir" style reels.

Any thoughts on what to get, what NOT to get?

My fishing is still in the v. early stages - I'm fishing off structures so
far (rocks, piers, harbour walls etc) but will want to do some beach work I
am sure as I understand more and more what I can catch and so on. I have so
far avoided all notions of multipliers because, erm, well they just seem
more complicated and suited to boats rather than piers. I am off boating
soon and see myself doiung this quite a bit - so I assume I shall want to
buy a decent boat rod and multiplier just for that. BUT for now, a fixed
spool???

The LAST thing you need is a bait runner as the clutch isn't up to casting
with a heavier weight & will cut you to the bone,2 to look for are Ryobi,
the GTs are decent for starting & a bit dearer but built to last ,Shimano
surf reels.
Look at Penn recons for half price from glasgow angling centre.Hope you &
the lad stick to it & have fun.
