OK Think I got enough BPS giftcards to go shopping. Have my eye on
three depthfinders. Want to take the factory Pirhana (worthless) and put it up front. Want to mount one of these three (or will take any suggestions of others) at the wheel. Must be able to read while on plane (unlike factory supplied).....THANKS 1. Eagle Fishmark 480 2. Eagle Fishmark 320 3. Humminbird Matrix 17 |

Hey Larry,
Last year I picked up the FishMark 320 and I was amazed. After having a Humminbird Wide Vision and hating it, I decided to go with the Eagle. I've never looked back. Not only does the FishMark work on plane (at 50+mph), the detail is astounding. I can't even imagine what the 480 must look like. Based on my experience with both makes and the 320 in particular, I'd say the 480 is a no brainer. For $200????? I don't think you can go wrong. Rich P "Larry A" wrote in message om... They work great, but I don't anything off of them on plane. That could be my mounting location. Jerry Barton adjusted mine last spring at Dale Hollow and since then, I have
never lost signal. Seems that I had mine mounted too low in the water. The way it was explained to me, you only need it about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch below the hull. If you're mounting it on a step-up, then it's probably out of the water while you're on plane. "Bob La Londe" wrote in message t... "Charles B. Summers" (Comcast) wrote in message ... Thats what I figure too. Its either out of the water or getting hit with very turbulent water when I'm running. Out here the depth sounder doesn't do anything but scare you when you are up on step anyway. You have to keep a sharp look out for sandbars, and never panic and let off the throttle when you realize the water under you is too shallow to float at rest. -- Bob La Londe www.YumaBassMan.com All about fishing in Yuma, Arizona Promote Your Fishing Website FOR FREE www.DiyComponents.com Buy professional quality components for DIY Projects |

I don't worry about that on my kayak even though my Hobie Outback is pretty fast! :-) |

I picked up a garmin 160 a little over a year ago and never mouted it yet.
