Hey all. I just signed up for this group and wanted to say hi. I have
been away from bass fishing for almost 20 years and really got bit by
the bug again about a month ago. I live in Peoria Illinois and do most
of my fishing in strip mines in and around Peoria and Fulton Counties.
I have created a fishing blog that you can see here...

http://www.bassinblog.blogspot.com
Check out my catches from today November 13th, 2004.

As the season comes to a close, I will be rebuilding my fishing
library and will probably start researching boating and equipment
options. I look forward to any advice that you may have to offer and
if will offer any advice that I think might help anybody else.

Take care,
Brad

Welcome Brad, make yourself at home. There are lots of good people
here and we even have a resident Troll. We like to hear from
everyone. Check out rofb.org for information on the group. There are
even several IL Bass fishermen here. I am from Northcentral WI above
Wausau.

Excellent. Thanks. A resident troll huh? Well I guess every good forum
needs at least one.

Take care,
Brad

Nice pics and nice fish. Especially from shore at this time of year.

Thanks. I pulled them all from couple of small brush piles up against
a steep south facing shoreline in about 3-5 ft of water. Unfortunately
I was only able to reach about 150 ft of the wall because this part of
the lake narrows and feeds into another lake. At the narrowest part
the water is only about 12-14 feet across and 3 ft deep. If I could
get across that span, I could fish the whole wall (which stretches
nearly a mile). Unfortunately there is no vehicle access to the other
side.

I'm contemplating taking my 18ft ladder and building a temporary
bridge. Hopefully nobody with a video camera will be anywhere nearby,
as this could end up being an America's Funniest Videos moment.

BTW. Sorry to hear about your dry launch. Sounds like the fishing was
pretty good though.

Take care,
Brad

Hi Brad,

I just took a look at the pictures, nice fish. I read that you've been
having some problems with FireLine. When I first started fishing
superlines, I had problems as well. My problem was that I was setting too
hard and ripping the hooks loose. I found that a "snap" of the wrist was
all that is needed to get hooks into a fish. Another suggestion is to set
the drag so that it gives just a little bit on the hook set. Then you don't
have to worry about oversetting or undersetting. Going up in break strength
will work too, but I don't think you have to.
