Default Hackle Guards

I just started tying the small stuff (18 and smaller) and I'm having,
uhhh... issues with the hackle getting all munged in the finish. Anyone use
a hackle guard? I saw them at hookhack.com, and they looked interesting.
They're cheap, but do they work?

Thanks,
Dan
