Default Seaguar - Unusualy break

Ok, Warren. I have finally had a problem with Seaguar. Not the short line
breaks you have described. It does break, but only onder appropriate stress
to break. The ten pound seems a little weaker than other 10Lb lines, but
the 12lb and up is very strong for its class. I drag the boat around with
it with no problem.

What I have experienced is a different problem. On long casts on bait
casting reels I have experienced a burn through. I'll rear back and lay
into it for a really long cast and it will go aways and then just keep going
taking 100 feet or more of line with it. When I look at the end still on
the reel it looks melted or smashed. I have never had that problem with
braids, and I haven't noticed it before with mono, but until recently I
never did any long casting with bait casting reel since I tned to fish
spinner baits and crank baits on spinning tackle.

I recently acquired a Lamiglass Fenglass rod for throwing spinnerbaits, and
a G-Loomis crank bait rod so I have been experiementig with lines I like for
this on bait casters. I just spooled up my Fenglas with 50LB Power Pro, and
I'm gonna head out to the canal in a little bit to try it. I'm thinking
with the glass rod, and the drag set light enough it shouldn't cost me many
fish fromt he lack of stretch. I am also considering some 30Lb PP orsimilar
barid for my crank bait rod. I know that most cranks are designed ot be
cast on 10lb dia, and 30lb PP is 8lb dia, but I am thinking that the higher
resistance and tendency to float will offset the smaller diameter.

Please feel free to pick apart my though processes or make some other
suggestions.

P.S. I have had zero probelms with the Seaguar on spinning tackle other
than the normal tendency of all spinning tackle to twist line if you are not
very careful with your handling. I have also had zero problems for short
line applications like pitching and flipping.
