Near Incident

Saturday morning, I decided to put some time in on Winnebago for some
largemouth in a few channels that I have had some success in the past.
The first channel was directly across from the launch, so I launched and
motored over, and then dropped my trolling motor and just started to fish.

I noticed as I was launching that a gentleman had just pulled up in
another bass boat and was getting ready to launch. So back to me
fishing the opening of the channel, I hear a big outboard kick down and
here is the nitro coming right for me wide open. Well he stops about 20
yards short of me, but continues to idle the big motor past me, thinking
he is going to go deeper into the channel (it is a small channel and
that ****ed me off that he would even pass me up to fish the channel) ,
but no he stops about 30 feet in front of me, and starts fishing right
in front of me. As loud as I could I said, I can't f*(*in believe this
sh*t. He wouldn't even turn around. Then I said as loud as I could ,
"That is all right, it is a big lake, and I don't need these fish, I
know how to find my own".

I guess my biggest issue is, why did he do that ? I know I look really
you, do you think that played a role in his boldness? I think that if I
looked older he wouldn't have done it, but who knows. I guess it goes
back to etiquette, and if we were both in a tournament , would he have
pulled the same crap. It ****ed me off for about a half an hour, before
I went to another spot, and caught 3 legals in about 3 minutes, then I
really didn't worry about it anymore. But it still makes me wonder what
would motivate someone to do something like that, something that I would
never ever think of doing, tournament or not.

My wife and I were talking about this kind of thing over the weekend.
Seems like common courtesy has been dying slowly over the last several
years - everything from the guy in front of you failing to use his turn
signal to tell you he's about to cut in front of you to the table next
to you letting their kids run all over the restaurant (actually, that
one has been going on for a long time) while you're trying to enjoy a
meal.
Your incident is just another in a long line of examples of how no one
has any respect for others anymore.

outside of words, I let it ride. He didn't even acknowledge I was

That probably wouldn't have been a good move anyways; Chris, regardless of
what others do on the water YOU should ALWAYS act with courtesy & respect.
Set an example, don't lower yourself to thier level.

Right Warren, especially with my career aspirations, I wouldn't want to
jeapordize that before it even got started, and as much as I would have
liked to soak the guy, I would do what I did do and just move on. You
know me, though I still think the look on his face would have been
priceless, and comical, even if only fantasy :-)

Did you notice what he was driving and his trailer. Amazing how many
folks like him find six or eight flats when they return to the ramp.
