that is the question.
I've been looking at the 10 Day forecast for Bryson City every day this week in anticipation of my fishing trip next week. What is the difference between "few showers" and "scattered showers" or "isolated thunderstorms" & "scattered thunderstorms" ? So many different terms when all I want to know is will it rain or won't it. Anyway, sounds like pack the raincoat, watch out for rising water and get ready to smell wet dog on the ride back to the cabin. -- Ken Fortenberry |

I even saw fish rising to them, which is unusual for me in NC. Ran into Dave Cassens at the Junction and he said some folks from FAOL were having a "fish-in" up there next week, so you shouldn't be lonely even if you do get wet. -- Charlie... http://www.chocphoto.com |

Ran into Dave Cassens at the Junction and he said some folks from FAOL were having a "fish-in" up there next week, so you shouldn't be lonely even if you do get wet. I'm overdue for bad luck, the last few times there weren't even any vehicles at the Junction much less other fishermen. Kipper and I had the whole place to ourselves. We'll just have to push on to Middle Falls or be sociable I guess. ;-) -- Ken Fortenberry |

I go through the same ritual before a trip, "Weather" it actually works this way or not, this is my interpretation. Few showers = The entire area will see showers off and on throughout the day. Your going to get wet... Scattered showers = The area will see showers off and on, but not everything will get hit. If you are lucky, you might be missed by the rain clouds... Isolated Thunderstorms = Only certain areas in the region will see thunderstorms, you might hear the rumblings, however may not get wet... Scattered Thunderstorms = Similar to scattered showers, with potential of thunder and lightning... As you mentioned, I would plan for rain and smelly dog... Have a great trip, JT |

I've been looking at the 10 Day forecast for Bryson City every day this week in anticipation of my fishing trip next week. forty, predicting whether or not it will rain on the headwaters of the smokies in early may is a losing proposition. about the only thing you can be sure of is that if the radar indicates a large system moving out of north georgia, you can forget about fishing. those things stall over the southwest corner of the old north state for a minimum of 3-4 days. btw, my trial schedule is full for next week, and i have canceled my plan to appear. because i love ya so much, though, i might just mail your tar heel tshirt directly to you. ![]() wayno |

You're gonna have to collect in person. BTW, when the NCAA decided to add a 12th game to the football schedule our local paper ran a poll to determine the fan's favorite extra football game. Notre Dame and Texas finished in a dead heat but I lobbied hard (and voted several times ;-) for North Carolina. -- Ken Fortenberry |

Have a great trip, Thanks JT, time spent in the mountains of North Carolina is time well spent, wet or dry. Monday morning can't come fast enough. -- Ken Fortenberry |
