So I get a nice bass on the line and then it wraps me on a submerged
tree limb mass. I tried giving it slack to swim free but nothing. The frustrating part is that I can see it flash down there yet I can't do a dang thing about it. Looked to be in the 4-5lb range. I was fishing Fat Ikas weightless with 12pound P-Line on a 7'med/hvy Kistler Helium rod and a Curado 200SF. I fish from my kayak so I obviously can't stand up for leverage to turn a bass. Here is what I am considering to avoid this situation: Go to 30lb PowerPro on my Calcutta 250 with a 15-20lb fluoro leader and use my 7' X-Hvy Calif Calico Special rod or just going with a heavier line on my previous setup. What about tying directly to the PowerPro in about 3-4 foot visibility? Will that line spook the bass? It has an 8lb diameter but obviously it is solid in color. I will definately try to position closer and avoid long casts. Short line flipping will help I am sure. Any other suggestions for fishing harsh cover? Thanks |
