Default Bass: A love story.

She mocked me all weekend.
She was the last thing I thought about at night and the first thing I
thought about in the morning.
Friday - I offered her a crankbait. She accepted it. She jumped as I
brought her closer and spit it out.
I tried to get her attention for the rest of the day but she wasn't
interested.
Saturday - I offered her almost everything I had. Senkos, lizards,
tubes, crankbaits, jerkbaits. She ignored them all. She would give me
the cold shoulder the rest of the day.
Sunday - I again came to her with offers of standard fair - Senkos and
crankbaits.
I looked through my collection for something that would be
irresistible. I had tried them all...or so I thought. I grabbed it from
the back of the box and tied it on. I flipped it to her and twitched
it. A splash! A tug! I pulled her closer again. She jumped and she
jumped again. I reached down and grabbed her.
Even covered in dirt and pond muck, she was beautiful. I gently took
the Skitter Pop away from her and put her on my scale. 4.0 pounds. She
was mine at last. I gave her one last look and slipped her back into
the water. She slowly swam away.
We'll meet again someday.

My story is sadder than yours. I only saw her once for a heart wrenching
second or 2. The guys in our family were on our yearly august sortee
into the wilds of Puzzle Lake Ontario. The first (gorgeous) day my
brother & I were fishing a rock face of or favorite cove (Spider,
because in the 70s we had a nearly drowned Black Widow climb into the
boat. My niece & her husband went ballistic, but I sent him back to a
watery grave.) I was casting a Torpedo top lure almost on the bank when
the biggest bass I've ever seen (at least 10 lbs I'm glad my cynical bro
was there to see & corroborate the attack) at least 10 lbs (yeah it's
huge for Canada knocked my Torpedo 3' out of the water. She must have
come out at least 2' also. It was love at first sight, but try as I
might to finesse it with a chartreuse lizard she shunned me with no
thought for my feelings... Sob!!! I caught & released a 5lb 10 oz.
Smallie & several other bass over 3 lbs, but she refused to respond to
my overtures. Sigh!!! It's been 4 years now & every year the forlorn
hope that she'll be more accomodating this year is crushed. Carl, Good
fishing & better catching to you all.

I'm an old timer. I recognize any bait from Slug Go to the Hawg uster.
Is a Senko a type of a plastic worm or tube?
