Just noticed a post about carp, and was reminded of the large scales on
carp. What other fish have large scales, and any larger than carp scales? |

There are larger freshwater fish such as a couple catfish and a couple sturgeon species, but they don't have scales. If I remember correctly Tarpon have the largest scales, but I could be wrong about that. |

The Tarpon while it may or may not have larger scales is a sal****er fish although it does inhabit brackish and even fresh waters. |

You could be right, but how about sharing the source of this information. You state it without any qualifiers, so I assume you have an authoritative source. I remain a skeptic. On another note the O.P. was asking about the fish with the largest scales and not the freshwater fish with the largest scales. |

A little off-topic, I remember a strange fish in Eastern Venezuela that has
a single enormous scale on each side of its body. I don't know how big the fish gets, the ones I saw were the size of the palm of a hand. "Ozzard of Wiz" wrote in message oups.com... Thanks everybody, it's been interesting and I learned a few things. Now, you're right on topic, but about this single scale fish, are you kidding? |
