Default roff photo essays

Thanks to Chuck, Jeff, Joel, Mark, and Wolfgang for contributing some
fine photo essays for all of roffdom to enjoy. These are all posted at
http://css.sbcma.com/timj/roffpics/ and I've made some refinements for
easier viewing. Once you open any of the collections and click on a
photo to view the larger shot, the photo will appear in a new browser
window. This was done so you don't reload the original page each time
between viewing photos.

Anyone else who has some photos to share with the group can email them
along with any trip report to timj at sbcma dot com and I'll post them
up. This is turning out to be a good way to have a common place for this
stuff.

Great deal Tim! Thanks for you considerable efforts.

And, not that I am complaining, mind ya, you got the primary TR, but my
photo explanations didn't accompany the pics?

Thanks again.

Mark

If you pause the mouse over the thumbnail photos, you'll see the text
you sent. Because you're so long-winded G, you may have to move the
mouse over the photo a few times or read really, really fast.

Where *EXACTLY* are the words supposed to appear? I tried that before I
sent in my reply post, but nada? Neither with thumbnail or larger photos?

Could it possibly have something to do with my 'puter settings?

They should appear right under the pointer in a little pop-up box. If
the mouse is moving, the alternate text won't appear, so it must be
perfectly still.

I don't think there's a browser setting. Maybe it's pibkac. ;-) Is
anyone else having that problem?

You're expecting a non-standard feature to work the same in all browsers.
The alt attribute is not intended to be displayed in a popup when you hover
over an image. That's for text to display while an image loads or if the
user has image display disabled. What you're looking for is the 'title'
attribute. Here's the cross browser way to do what want:

IMG src="an_image.jpg" alt="some text" title="the same or other text"

Yeah, well I was also expecting to see Kevin Vang tied to Liz Hurley,
but that didn't work out either.

It's good to have geeky friends. ;-) Thanks Stan. Try it now, Mark.

step one: send all disposable funds to my law account.

step two: i'll get in touch with her people and get back to you;
probably for more of step one.

I'm sure we'll have yet another roff consensus. ;-)

Agreed.
