Thanks! The "scenic bear shot" made me smile. The fish made me
shiver...

I got a tickle out of the pic with the volcano puffing in the background.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the photos . Nice fish. I suspect pretty assuredly I won't be
going to that part of the world, and certainly wouldn't get into that
helicopter without a couple parachutes attached to me. uhh . . . and
instructions about how to exit that one. (had chewing gum and duct tape in
my mind as I glanced at the pics for a possible maintenance manual
reference)
But as I recall, from long ago ROFF stuff, (certainly relative based on
postings) you had this
trip in your mind. Glad you had good fishing and got to do it.

Actually, Dave, the MI8 has a very good flying record and is used
throughout the world by many nations. The shadows inside caused by
the whirling 5 bladed rotor were almost hypnotizing. The turbines
gave out a 3 beat rhythm that could be heard regardless what kind of
earplugs one used. I'd love to fly in it again, but without 19 other
people and their luggage. It certainly is a workhorse in Kamchatka,
but flying a Beaver or Otter would be more practical and cheaper. The
pilot was right out of a Hollywood casting office.

a great series of photos I enjoyed them very much, but pardon me for saying
the picture captioned "Jeff with another silver" should be captioned Jeff
with another Char.

d;o) Good eyes, Ralph. The fins should have given folks a hint.
You are correct - it is a Dolly Varden and I had a senior moment. The
day that Jeff guided, we were after silvers, but switched after lunch
to pick up some char on smaller weight rods. Jeff, btw, is a
fantastic source of info on Alaskan brown bears, and his stories about
bears, their habits, habitat, reaction to different stimuli, etc.
never fail to entertain. He's about knee high to a grasshopper, but
strong as a bull. Great guy and guide.

Dave
