....henceforth known as GFS2006. Firstly, a shoulder operation may be in
my near future. Had the MRI yesterday and the doc will give me the bad news this coming week. He sez it will put my arm out of action for 2 frickin' months, I need to have that clarified when next I talk to him. All this is by way of 'splaining that I may not be able to tie but will still act as the swapmeister..I'll probably know for sure next week. Nuff said. For those wanting to swap this year, please heed the few suggestions I have, for that will make it easier for me and might even add a year of two to my life. ;-) For the newbies (you old timers know the drill by now)... Choose a pattern that you want to tie and tie that pattern times the number of swappers signed up. There is no theme to this swap, tie whatever floats your boat. If you already know what you are going to tie, name the pattern when you sign up. Please tag each and every fly with your name and the name of the pattern. (please, don't use tags with strings) Adding the recipe is not necessary, if someone wants that they can email you with the request. Send your flies to me when completed in a container large enough to hold all the flies you're going to get back from me. (vcr containers work real good and will protect your precious babies, in both directions) For those in the USofA I suggest using the USPS size small priority mail box, perfect size and using it will only cost you #3.85. Please by sure you include a legible return address *AND* return postage. Sign-up starts today and will remain open until Jan.15th. The swap closes on Feb.15th, and that *means* Feb 15th, not later because you were too dang lazy to get 'em tied on time. To be fair to those who will stay with the swap until the end, don't sign up if you are not reasonably sure you can finish. All are welcome to join in GFS2006, with the possible exception of Ken Fortenberry, who's flies would probably slice to the left anyway. ;-) Just had to get that one in there Kenny, hope your peepers are gettin' better. OK, that's it, my address is below. Frank Sr. 15 days left to sign up... Frank Church 803 W. Cora Lane Fremont, IN 46737 |

Yep, my flies definitely tend toward the left. ;-) The right eye gets sliced and diced on Feb. 6 and the left on Feb. 27. Turns out I've been damn near blind for almost a year. Who knew. SWMBO won't even let me drive anymore. There goes my January fishing trip to Minnesota. :-( But come March my peepers will be better than new. Doc says I may not even need glasses for distance, and I've been wearing glasses since third grade ! Have a great GFS2006 and do try to be a mellow fellow Swapmeister this time. ;-) -- Ken Fortenberry |
