Has anyone here fished the Arolik River, Alaska?
My friend and I are heading up there in July, would be interested in

Nope. These are all Ca. boys. I'm a bit curious as to why you're going
so early?

Early?
Jim O went the same time last year in July made a killing on the King
Salmon. The biggest he hooked was in the 50 pound range.
Papa Bear Adventures....note the schedule the the Arolik.

I guess i'm a little surprised you are targeting Kings. If you want BIG
fish, then I do understand why you're going in July. If you wait a
little later, you'll run into a few more species of salmon. Either way,
you'll have rainbows, dollies and grayling to contend with, on top of
the kings. I hear it's an awesome trip. Wish I had gone when the
opportunity came up.

Email me if you want the DVD

Willi,
Jim says he met a married couple in July who ran into Bear trouble. They
were not the outdoors type and knew nothing about bears so they hung around
him just about the whole time. I think the worst part of his trip.

Have you fished the Arolik River? If not, I'm not sure why you would even
question this.
Jim is even worst than I as in researching anything and everything about the
Arolik. We're both backpackers and have spent a lot of time in the
wilderness. Two nights ago we had a two hour conversation about the river,
as I did most of the listening. I swear, he just about relived last years
trip on the Arolik over the phone. I asked him about a later date, but he
told me the first two weeks of July are sensational for Kings. Later on
during the weeks, heading into August it starts to dry out, even the hatch
changes. I trust his judgement in setting up the best times to hit the river
since we're paying for the trip.
