Just checked my email, and SWMBO sent me a message that her oldest
daughter had her baby a bit early. So, for a guy who has never been
married and never had any kids, its a real shocker to come out of the
New Zealand woods and discover that I'm a (gasp) GRANDFATHER!

Cigars all around.

Congratulations!

But think of how shocked you'd have been to come out of the woods and
discover that you were a (high-pitched shriek) GrandMOTHER!

Felt a bit discomfited by this. So, not wanting to be outdone, I've
become a grandfather myself. Anais was born on Thursday in Barcelona,
with an American (Chilean) father. I cheated, mind, and had kids first.

By the way, I was a bit puzzled by the SWMBO acronym, and had to climb
the dusty stone steps to the stone tower where I keep the leather-bound
tomes of vellum, carefully inscribed with the ROFF archives, to check
what it meant.

I have in fact, many years ago, met the original of the (modern) SWMBO.
She and her husband gave me a lift right across France to their villa
on the riviera.

Will try to write an OT trip report soon.

CONGRATULATIONS Gramps! "Anais" is a beautiful name.

By the way, I was a bit puzzled by the SWMBO acronym, and had to climb
the dusty stone steps to the stone tower where I keep the leather-bound
tomes of vellum, carefully inscribed with the ROFF archives, to check

Hmm, you might have to explain this more fully. You mean you met the
SWMBO of the person who originally coined the acronym? Now I have to
climb some dusty stairs myself...
