In my search for a new fishfinder for the front of my boat, I would like to
get an idea as to what you have on yours. Right now, I've got a little Eagle FishEasy, but when I get my new trolling motor, I want to replace the finder too. My plans are/were, to get a Garmin 240 for the console and move my Garmin 160 to the front. I can get the 240 minus the transducer for about $120, which is a really good price for the unit, and since my trolling motor will have universal sonar, I won't need a transducer anyway. BUT... Looking at the Eagle 480's, they're pretty sharp too. The downside of getting this one would be that if I put it on the console, I'd have to re-drill some holes, and there aint much sense in putting that unit on the front, since I would consider that overkill. But, what do you have? And why? -- www.secretweaponlures.com www.outdoorfrontiers.com |

Charles, 240's are cheap now (relatively speaking). Color units are
getting cheaper -- and probably by next year, even lower. I'd get the garmin 240 for the console -- then next year -- move it forward and get a color /sonar / gps unit for the console. (Or if you like, this winter I'll make you a heck of a deal on my Garmin 168 sonar /gps) Hooks into the same cable as the 240. g Charles Summers wrote: In my search for a new fishfinder for the front of my boat, I would like to get an idea as to what you have on yours. Aarrgg... I just bought the 162 GPS. It's hovering nicely over my 160, via a
RAM mount. "Fritz Nordengren" wrote in message news:Fp9oc.27683$xw3.1885679@attbi_s04... Charles, 240's are cheap now (relatively speaking). I've got a Garmin 240 on the console and a Lowrance X-97 on the bow hooked
to a universal sonar. I ordered a X-87 with the rig from Cabela's but they sent a X-97 instead. I can really find those deep bass now. Remember, the temp function does not work with universal transducers. -- Bill Chesapeake, Va "Charles Summers" wrote in message ... Lowrance Eagle? What's the difference besides the memory card and the
fact that the Lowrance remembers all your settings? That last one is a major difference though... LOL. I know on the Eagle I have, I always have to reset the thing to my settings every time I turn it on, and being that it's on front... I usually turn it off when I'm running across the lake. -- Charles Summers Secret Weapon Lures http://www.secretweaponlures.com "IBNFSHN" wrote in message news:Ngdoc.139178$f_5.29297@lakeread01... But, what do you have? And why? I have a Pinpoint 7520 on the console. I like it because it has the fastest refresh rate of any locator in the industry (at least it did at the time) and it reacts as fast as a flasher so it is handy when running. It also shows incredible detail if you take the time to learn how to use it off the automatic setting. I used to have an identical locator on the bow, that worked in conjunction with the Pinpoint trolling motor. But since the motor puked, I took it off and went back to using the Lowrance X-65 that is built into the bow panel. -- Steve @ OutdoorFrontiers http://www.outdoorfrontiers.com G & S Guide Service and Custom Rods http://www.herefishyfishy.com |

A Lorance LMS350A. Because an R.O.F.B. member gave me a great deal (thanks Todd) when he upgraded. Mine is mounted midship and can
be viewed from either seat. It will be bow mounted for fishing, movable to the stern for navigation (GPS) with RAM mounts on the project boat. I have "no" fish finder on the 10 foot puddle pusher. I do however have a
brand spanking new 46 pound thrust Minn Kota trolling motor waiting to be used in the morning. I lent mine to a resort so they could skim a small pond and they promised if anything happened to it it would be replaced brand new, half way through the day the motor puked, don't know why and don't care. I got a new motor and they are getting the old one repaired. I also have a brand new two year warranty now too!!!! "Doc (The Tin Boat King)" wrote in message ... A Lorance LMS350A.
