Default Pflueger Purist Baitcast Reel : Opinions

I'm looking for a low budget baitcasting reel to last me three or four
years. Has anyone fished one of these?

The basspro extreme reels are ok. I've had one for about 5 years and still
works. I just passed it on to my buddy so he can learn to cast one.

Default Pflueger Purist Baitcast Reel : Opinions

I purchased a purist last year, because of the price and the way it
spins so free. My only issue with it is the the button for the cover
release is constantly getting pushed by the palm of my left hand when I
am reeling. It is on the left side (on the right handed reel model),
this is where the Curado still dominates. If you are looking for a low
budget baitcast reel, that are made by pflueger, but under a different
name, check out the BassPro Extremist reels. About $20 cheaper than the
purist, but I have 3 of them, and I haven't had any issues with them
since I took them apart and hot sauced them to death. Out of the
package they seem to get to a point where there is no lubrication in the
reel and so your casting distance drops and you can feel it is hard to reel.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Its a decent reel, but Pflueger has a poor attitude towards customer
service. Since they got bought out I won't buy their products anymore.
