Two mangy bulls are standing on a hill overlooking a herd of cows, one an old bull...let's call him Teddy, and a younger bull...let's call him Bill. Billy Bull says to Teddy Bull, "Heh, heh..let's run on down there an' nail us an inter..., er, cow..." Teddy Bull says, "You-a youngstas don't know anything...let's walk down, have a Chivas or twelve, and drow...er, nail 'em all..." |

We caught so many big bows that we got jaded. By the end we were estimating fish we'd hooked and were playing at 16 inches, when in reality they were pushing or exceeding 20. It was challenging and rewarding. You can't ask more of a fishing trip. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |

For some reason I thought Willi didn't like stillwater fishing but guess I was wrong. Personally, I've caught my biggest trout from lakes. Times on stillwaters when the action available rises above trolling a bugger can match any stream fishing for challenge ... a good gulper day on Hebgen is as "challenging and rewarding" as any, anywhere in fly fishing, for instance and some damn good fishermen that haven't learned this particular game, leave skunked and shaken after casting to hundreds of rising fish. Speaking of lakes .... I delayed my departure a week to do some painting around here for my bride, so I'm still in Arnoldland. But one of my intended fishing holes this summer is 'Rattlesnake Lake' in Jellystone .... as I remember, your picture shows you in a tube, is one needed to fish the lake well? The "tyranny of stuff" is getting me down as I pack and try and decide what pieces of my bloated equipment hoard to take, what to leave behind, ..... a light weight tube is still in the inbetween, 'maybe,' pile. *** Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com *** |

We were catching most of our fish wading from shore, fishing nymphs from one to five feet deep, letting the wind drag take the flies through the weeds. Trolling or stripping is boring by comparison, but that's apparently the standard procedure. We also had fun fishing from the dam, just as a change of pace. Speaking of lakes .... IMHO, you need a tube to fish Rattlesnake effectively. I caught that huge rainbow by trolling a damsel nymph. With the lessons I've learned from this recent stillwater trip, I'd try something different. Stillwater fishing is just as challenging and interesting as stream fishing, and I think Willi likes it just fine. -- Cut "to the chase" for my email address. |
