Default Shimano Sidestab Spinning Reel

My 15 year old Daiwa has a broken "anti-reverse cam spring". I'm going fishing
this weekend and I won't be able to get a replacement spring in time for the
fishing outing. It's a Daiwa 1055 model with auto-cast and rear drag. The guy
at the repair shop said it was a very good reel in its day and was worth
repairing (I know, what else would he say?!).

Anyway, I don't want to spend a lot of money on what would be a replacement
reel and I wanted to find one with auto-cast and rear drag for under $50.00,
preferably around $30.00. The only one I could find that is readily available
in my area is a Shimano Sidestab.

Anybody have any comments, pro or con, on this reel?

Thanks,
Sylvester

The very cheapest Shimano spinning reels are still good reels. The Sidestab
should serve you well.

Don't know if they still do, but tat the time that reel came out, all
shimano spinning reel model names began with the letter S. I think they
just ran out of suitable S words.
