If you guys had to pick one bait to use in clear water to get a limit,
what would it be?

Based on the successes I've been having this season, it would have to be a
5" Senko, wacky-rigged with a 1/0 octopus hook. The outstanding color has
been watermelon with red/green flecks.

Gee, that's tough. Would I pick a 4" senko, or maybe a 4" senko, or a 4"
senko....

If I could rig it anyway I want the 4" senko would be my first bet for a
limit, not necessarily for a big limit.

It can be fished effectively t-rigged as a jerk bait, wacky rigged as a drop
bait, or as a dropshot bait wacky rigged, nose hooked or t-rigged.

I've caught bigger fish on 5.5" and 7", but for sheart numbers the 4" is
pretty incredible.

If I absolutley wanted a limit and size was not an issue I would go with the
4" senko. Probably go with baby bass for color.

My goto bait is the 5" Senko T rigged weightless on wide gap hooks. The 4"
wacky Senko runs a close second.

It would definitely NOT be a senko.

4" Motor Oil Producto Springworm (flat tailed ringworm), nose hooked on
a drop shot rig.

I would also choose a Senko, though the size, color, and how I rig it
would vary depending on the other conditions. If you were going to pin
me down to one size and color, I guess it would have to be a 5" in
Cinnamon.

I would be swimming a jig with a 4 or 5" grub on the back of it. A
senko type lure would be my second choice and my follow up lure. Drop
shot would be a close third especially if the fish are deeper. I don't
have the patience to let a senko drop into 15 feet of water like Steve.

Steve,

switch up to the 2/0 Octopus hooks.Much better hook up ratio's and
less lost fish. IMO,

There is a guy on E-bay named cable dog who sells 100 packs of red ones
for like 10-11 bucks delivered. Ask Jerry how much he likes em.

Gary,

I also grab for the Swim jig 3" & 4" tails, in clear water as my first
choice. The most attractive thing about it is covering water. But once
I am on them, a soft plastic jerkbait (Senko or Fluke) is my next
choice. Deeper water, I am throwing a crankbait, or Carolina Rig (or
according to Swindell, a Quitters rig).
