I'd love to go but 1. I've hocked all my chips for Alaska 2. I'd run
out of money before Alaska 3. I don't think I'll be able to hold a
flyrod that soon (with my right hand anyway).

I'll be back with a vengeance next year. My advice for Madison
attendees this year: Fish Big Dries in the middle of the day, with a
long dropper and a beadhead. Walk farther, wade more, and hit the
pockets and banks that haven't been fished for at least a few hours or
be the first one there that day. Look for deep riffles with larger
rocks on the bottom. Fish the faster side of the slow deep pockets so
the fish don't have as much time to look your dry over. If you can get
on the far (W) side of main channel upstream of the Slide Inn you won't
have much company and you'll find endless small pockets and possibly
lots of willing fish.

If things go as scheduled I'll be in Yellowstone the 1st 3 weeks of September
and Jackson the last week of September and the 1st week of October. If I make it
back in time I'll try and come up to NC before charm school ends and bear season
starts.

Will do Bruce, and I'll dedicate some of those fish to you.
Have a great time in Alaska. A fighting butt, even 2 inches long, can save
your arm.

i look forward to some glowing trip reports to mark your alaskan
