Default MT ban lifting

The Power That Be in Montana have just announced that river closures
from noon to midnight will be lifted on two rivers in western Montana
starting August 25 ( maybe all bans are lifted, not sure). The Clark
Fork will be open as will the lower reaches of the Bitteroot. The
Missouri and Rock Creek have not had bans. The guide/shop owner in St.
Regis who I know is very happy.
Heading over!

Its still hot and dry in Western MT
Putting fishing pressure on is NOT beneficial for fishermen or the fish.

Here are a couple of other facts. The lower Clark Fork is now running
from 59 to 65d. Also, the nearby cuthroat steams in northern Idaho are
getting hit very hard as fishers are heading there instead of spending
the day drifting in MT. True, it is still hot over there but the
ten-day forecast calls for daytime temps in the upper 70s. And it has
been running in the high 40s many nights. So, as with many other
issues, there are many factors to consider.

So basically It is still hot and dry!
w severe drought conditions.
The temps have NOT gone down as yet!

and putting pressure on these fish will not help their survival rate
Nor will it help the personal well being of the crowded fishermen that you have notified !

It may relieve pressure in Idaho and
It will surely help your fly shop owner buddy!

These seem to be the facts to consider!

but I - Personally- do not see that as enough of a reason to lift any bans on fishing as yet.
Perhaps after labor day if we get some rain.
I will do a rain dance!

Sincerely
Fred

Fred, please turn the HTML formatting off when posting to ROFF.

The temps have gone down and there was even a little rain in parts of the
area Friday. The forecast called for the temps to rise a little this week
but iirc, they were going to the upper 80's, not back to the triple digits.
