What do you guys think, is this a scam, or is this something that needs
to be addressed.

If It's real, I think some others here might want to help also. I think
its real, of course he might have found dozens of companies, or
fishermen to write to, but he did not CC anyone else with this email, so
it does not look like he is spamming

Hi friends!
My name is Daniel Stocanin from BanjaLuka(Bosnia and Herzegovina).
I am 16 years old. I like fishing a lot. My problem is that in
our country after a war standard of living is on a very low level.
In my family there is five of us (my parents, two sisters and I),
but only my mother is working, because my father is very sick.
Her salary is very low (159 eur) and we are in very bad situation.
Beside a school I am trying to make some money working on a building
side like a physical worker, but I need that money to buy school
books for my sisters and me. As I sad I like fishig a lot but I
dont have a money to by fishing equipment. I know that is not nice
what I asking for, but If you are in situation to send me anything
(just anything) of fishing equipment for free it will be very nice
and I will be so gratefull and happy. I am not asking something
special, just anything what you can. I found you on a internet
(my neighbour have computer) and I saw that you are very good
and you have very good products.

Daniel Stocanin
Jevrejska 105

Bosnia and Herzegovina

In a hope that you will understand me
THANKS A LOT!

Ever heard of Bcc? Blind carbon copy. It copies but does not indicate
so to the other recipients.

Bait is cheap for both. Cheese balls, bread balls, etc will work for both.
Heck, I have caught bopth trout and carp on canned corn, and trout will hit
am amazing array of baits. I've got them on marshmallows and even on baked
beans.

I have one rod (cormoran) which I got from my neighbour, with old
schekspeare reel.

I had one rod for a long time. A cheap Daiwa 7'6" Medium fiberglass rod.
(might have been medium light). It was paired with an elcheapo Olympia
spinning reel. I caught everything on that rod. Sunfish and bluegill,
crappie, bass, catfish, stripers (upto about 12 pounds), trout, and yes
carp. Did most of it on light line. I did manage to upgrade to a Daiwa 250
RL spinning reel one summer in my early teens. It was too big for the rod,
but it actually worked better than a properly sized reel.

. If you can help me I will be so gratefull
Thanks a lot!

What does he want? A jar of salmon eggs? Some hooks? Maybe some sinkers?
A spool of fresh line?

I'm sure that I may be being a little uncharitable, but the tone of the
message tends to indicate an untitlement mentality. He has a rod and a
reel. Hooks are cheap (maybe not in Bosnia) lots of things will work as a
sinker. The only thing he might not be able to afford or scrounge would be
line.

LOL. actually I have a ton of things I could give away and never miss. I
do from tim to time as a matter of fact. I run a free weekly lure
give-a-way on my webiste, and I give away a half dozen packages of Culprit
plastics at every Pro/Am tournament when I do the sign up. I don't even
mind giving something away to somebody once in a while for the asking, but I
don't want to contribute to begging and encourage it as a way to get stuff
without working for it, and probably a bigger issue I just don't want to
deal with the issues of going to the post office to get customs tags etc and
paying all those extra fees to send a handful of baits to Bosnia.

Maybe we can get Rodney to foot the bill. We can all send a box of misc
stuff we don't use to him and he can put t in one big box and ship it. Of
course if Bosnia has import duties on it the kid may not be able to afford
to pick it up anyway.

You need to do that

You not even trying it, and still bad mouthing it, says a whole lot
about you. Your like my 8 year old grand daughter, says she does not
like certain foods, yet she has never tried them, a least she does not
tell others not to eat what she has not tried, so she is one up on you.
