Default Is Everybody OK?

It has been a while and I know some of the guys where up in years, or not in
the best of health, or I haven't see a post in a long time. So just
checking. How is Bob Rickard, Moe Conway, Little Six (Vern), Fritz, Pat
Goff

I am so sorry to hear about your loss Ken, 28 is far too young for anyone to
pass.

I can speak for myself, & I am doing almost fine. SWL keeps me busy as
usual, but most of my time is now spent shopping for a comfortable pair of
kneepads. The left wing media has already given the upcoming congressional
election to the Democrats, meaning that Nancy Pelousy will become the
Speaker of the House. She will remain true to form & demand that we all
become groveling surrender-monkeys, getting on our knees in front of every
moslem we see & begging forgiveness for being born. Then we will all have to
impeach Bush for trying to defend our families & this country, the dirty
rat.

I had best stop now... God forbid that one of us might risk offending
another on this group by saying something political, right Ken?

Thanks for your thoughts Craig. Yes, 28 is way too young.

Bob, my step-daughter is on her second deployment to Iraq. Last time early
on she was teamed with an Iraqi soldier. He tried to molest her. She beat
the hell out of him with the butt end of her rifle and told him to tell his
buddies next time she would use the bayonet end. She did not have a problem
after that. The liberals scream Abu Ghraib but you never hear what OUR
troops put up with. Oh yeah, she was chewed out by the CO for almost killing
the guy. She volunteered for this tour because she wants to help see it END
and she lost a friend she grew up with last tour. Sorry for the off topic
but even though I have never met you all this is kind of a family and I am
feeling ornery. Joe Z.

Ok you old Fart.... You have been looked for a good old fight, haven't
ya... You know I'm a Democrat, and one that it not afraid to take on all
you overly conservative republicans.. Attacking Afghanistan and going after
Osama bin Laden - YEAH! Attacking Iraq - What the hell for? Iran, YEAH!
North Korea, YEAH! Iraq - Again I ask why? Hell I could even understand
Saudi Arabia before I could see Iraq.

Why? Personal opinion. White House thought it was a Soft target, that could
raise the pres's popularity, make the Bush and Chaney families a lot of
money, and it would be over fairly quickly. Oops...

I have two cousins fighting over there myself. One is an ex-Green Beret,
who has two silver stars, that is working as a private contractor. I
personally think at 52, he is nuts! $160K a year or not, he's nuts! Even
though I like his reasoning; He has seen more combat than any of these kids
ever will, and he knows how to keep them safe, or safer. That's cool, but
how much can he really do as a private contractor (not much). My other
cousin is a sniper. Here in the States he trains police officers in
firearms at the local police academy.

So I'm proud of my cousins and what they are doing, but they shouldn't be
there in the first place. Iraq? Really.... Come on..... The white house
screwed up! BIG!!! What should have been the target, if we needed to pick a
place to send our troops, Pakistan.... YEAH! Now, Iran.... Oh Yeah! That
is the REAL Threat!

I think in just a year or two, it will become apparent that a showdown
between radical Islam and western civilization was an inevitability, and if
it wasn't in Iraq, it would have been somewhere else (maybe London or NYC).
Either way it was going to happen and the exact place and time will soon
seem fairly unimportant.

I don't usually get involved in political debate....so I won't this time
either !

"But, eventially we are gonna have to play "Cowboys and Muslims".....it
worked with the Indians, even if it wasn't right.

I totally agree with you on this,
and I was trying to be historical instead of political. :)

Bob wants to debate this on the board, but he accidently asked me two
questions A & B by email and I responded by email. - This is a copy of my
response so that Bob can now reply publicly...

Ok Buddy, let's address your questions:

A) Bush & Cheney, both filthy rich before 9/11, needed to invade Iraq for
the money?

The real question you need to ask yourself is; why did he attack an already
weaken country, that in the grand scheme of things, regardless of the
intelligence he though he had, was, at best a very minor threat in
comparison to states like Iran, North Korean, Pakistan, Indonesia, and even
Saudi Arabia. Why?
1. To finish the fight his father started (Pretty much a Texian attitude)
2. To boost his slacking ratings (since bin laden kept slipping out of our
grip)
3. To take control of the Iraq oil supply
4. Being good businessman, and both being Texians, where one can never be
rich enough, took advantage of this fight to increase the family's wealth.
Which they did!!!

B) the life-hating, suicide-seeking moslems in Iraq are any different than
those you claim to be willing to defend against elsewhere?

Why? Because Shi'ites and Sunnis' believe in ridding their land of us
(christians) and the jews, but have not, EVER, attacked outside their land.
So while they would love to rid us from the middle east, they have in no
time in history, EVER, attacked us outside the middle east. The Radical
Islamics on the other hand, want to rid the WORLD of us and the Jews. HUGE
difference!

Now a question for you. Why would an intelligent man like yourself, blindly
follow a president, even after it has been proven that everything he told us
was a lie? Hell, I dropped Clinton after he was exposed for his lies, yet
you defend this lair.

With all due respect to both of you, no good will
come of this.

A political discussion between fishing buddies is
one thing, but without the moderating effects of
a smile, a gesture, a "get this guy a beer", Usenet
politics almost always degenerates into nastiness.
It's the nature of the beast. Been there, done that.

Save it for the campfire.

Please.
