interested in learning how to make my own flies I wanted to find the best

A: Grow a thicker skin. Stuff happens on Usenet. Part of the deal. I'd
suggest lurking for a while to get a feel for the character(s) of a group.
Helpful. Plus, you can lurk for a while and see what other people are
discussing or have discussed. Do you think this is the first time your
question has been asked? Maybe Google thru the archives (they go back a
while). BTW, Op's a pretty good guy. He could have very easily sent you

B: There are many, many shops on the web. Try Hook and Hackle
(hookhack.com), Feather Craft (feather-craft.com) to start. The big boxes
(Bass Pro and Cabela's) can work, too.

Sorry you took my Google proffering as an affront to your request for
assistance.

And no, tying flies is not an exclusive club. I am learning to tie flies on
my own too, and while others may assisted us, no one can give a definitive
answer to your request for "the best place" to get a mail order catalog
concerning fly tying. Purchasing fly tying materials is not unlike
anything else that you might purchase--a hit and miss, trial and error
process.

My Google, to you, was a sincere "suggestion."
