Default removing hooks

I was fishing a couple of mornings ago in the dark...eh. I caught a big
one and the fish (OT) had the hook from the lure deep down. It was
still dark and the fish was large, toothy and flopping around. I got
my pliers on the hook shank and the pliers broke off at the
junction..shi###t. No way was I sticking my hand down to free the
treble. I only had one set of pliers. I wasn't going to cut the line
and leave the lure in the fish. I pulled a McGuiver and took a pair of
scissors from my bag and used them like pliers on the hook shank.
Sacrificed one set of pliers and one pair of scissors but got the lure
out and released the fish. Went to the retailer and bought another
guide pack containing rapala long nose pliers with split ring separator
on the tip.The previous set of pliers removed a lot of hooks fo me and
the buddies and I don't mind the loss and getting a new pair to
continue on..eh
