before Lenoir became recognized as the information Mecca of the nation!
http://newstopic.net/articles/2006/1...ews/41news.txt Now that we have given up on 100% of the business property taxes for the next 30 years and 80% of the real estate property taxes for the next 30 years, our nice little bedroom community will become the Silicon Valley of the East! I wonder how many of the estimated 200 jobs will actually be filled from the local area--2? Perhaps 3, maybe? Word has it too that Bill Gates bought 6 tracts of land in the Laurelmor subdivision between Boone, Wilkesboro, and Blowing Rock. ****, I my just quit my day job and prostitute myself out as a $10,000.00 a day guide. The Ginn Group is one of them high falutin' golf/real estate development companies that are taking the nation by storm. The folks that buy into Laurelmor can just fly into the place via private airstrip, shop at their own malls, receive emergency medical attention from their own fire and rescue dept.--includes helicopters, golf and fish their own streams... and never even have to associate with white trailer trash such as myself, iffin' they don't want to. Ain't life grand! Op --Apparently, the Google folks have already slept with a few of our finest city council members and county commissioner though :~^ ( -- |

They already did that out here.
http://www.gorgebusiness.com/2005/google.htm I don't think google brought in that many people. What they did is build a big server farm. Lots of machines, in air conditioned buildings with lots of UPs power units backed up by diesel generators. The power systems are designed to provide continous, reliable power. No matter what you googline they want to make sure you get an answer. The basically came to town with dump trucks full of money and built the place, If you know the Good, Fast, Cheap -Pick two theory of construction, they were going for Good and Fast. So far when I drive throught The Dalles and Mosier I can still see the cheery orchards where long ago I spent summers makeing the big bucks picking Bings and Tarts. Who knows how long they will last.
