Every Summer, I move from the south to the north for 3 months. In my
southern home state, big bass are the norm. I never catch many. A lot has to do with the fact that I rarely fish for them. I'm usually in sal****er bays. The few that I've caught have been in the 3 to 6 lb range, and those were usually with the aid of a guide, or a knowledgeable local friend. Now, I am in the frozen North ( Wisconsin) and, in one week, I've caught more bass from 2 1/2 to 6 lbs. then I caught in 24 years in the South. They love topwaters; they fight like hell... I can't believe how many 4/5/ 6 lbs bass I'm catching up here. Is this normal?? have I just found a good spot with a lot of dumb fish?? I've never had the results like today or a few days ago. 6 bass 2 1/2 to 3 lbs in a 2 hour morning and 1 1/2 hour evening stint. They hit topwaters like they never saw one before. Now, a lot of the guys on this lake fish leeches on the bottom. They must do OK since they all do it. I can't sit still that long. Tell me , what is realistic for Wisconsin/Michigan etc. type lakes this time of the year? RichG -- manager, Carolina Skiff Owners Group on MSN http://groups.msn.com/CarolinaSkiffOwners |
