Default Bass/Pike Fly Swap?

I posted a feeler of sorts in ROFF wondering if there would be any interest
in a bass/pike/"trash fish" fly swap. There is some interest, but not much.

Wondering if any ROFFT-ers would join in.

Dan

Sure, sounds like a good idea--as long as I don't have to
read or in any way participate in the other group--it
sounds like a good idea.
I even have a fly.

....oops. That (the einstein reply) was posted by
Sandy. The obscured posting name was
a mistake........a left over experiment from
an earlier experiment of sorts (I have a new
news reader I use only occasionally).

Didn't really think it was Einstein. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be stupid
enough to make disparaging references to "the other group," some of whose
habitués might also be looking in here, thus inviting precisely what he
pretends to abhor, while engaging in it himself from what he supposed (in
his amusing simplicity) to be a safe distance.

You're absolutely right. I tripped over my own
foot (the other one was planted squarely in my own mouth)
and fell face first into some of early
springtime, sloppy green cow manure, of my own making.

Early springtime is, unfortunately, a sloppy, nasty, bone-chilling, and
utterly unlovely time of year here. Too late for hard water fishing (even
for those inclined to such asocial and fundamentally inexplicable behavior)
and too early for real fishing. Well, there IS an "early season", catch and
release only, on some waters here, and it IS possible to catch some fish,
but given the prevailing atmospheric conditions and the cold water it is
mostly an exercise in self-abuse. Nevertheless, aficionados pride
themselves (not without justification) on their ability to match the
opportunistic (not to say, optimistic) hatches and even seem to enjoy
themselves. I have no idea what they use at this time of year. Frankly, I
don't care. It's just nice to get out once, early in the year, to shake the
cobwebs off the gear.....and out of the brain and the shoulder
joints.....and try to remember what the purpose and the attraction of the
game is. Sadly, there was a break with tradition this year......I was
deprived of the company of both Wayne and even the more regular Joel. I
went out alone one weekend and talked to a couple of hardy souls, but never
wet a line. Still, perhaps it's for the best. Anticipation builds. Joel
is coming up on the 5th of May and we will go out somewhere and annoy some
fish. Perhaps......probably.....we'll end up at the Bible Camp, watching
the bugs do things that we won't mention in a family newsgroup, and
wondering whether we should get up off our asses and thrash the water. Then
we'll stop somewhere for a bite to eat (and Joel's requisite martini) and
drive home.....satiated.

Wolfgang
and 11 days later it's off to the old north state to tease relict brookies!
