Because of logistics, I will be buying 18 identical sets of fishing
gear for the kids' trip. That means the same make/model rod, reel and color/type of line. The question is: how can I have the kids personalize their rod and/or reel so that they can tell it apart from the others? I'm thinking of silly little ways like wrapping different colored thread around the shaft, or taping their name under the reel foot, but maybe someone has a better idea? --riverman |

Color code them, useing several collors an infinite variety, rod, reel same
code. Small bottles of moel paint come in a set for a few bucks. Makes good nail polish too for the wife, girlfriend or both. John Popp Deltona Fl "riverman" wrote in message ups.com... Impressing the name in the cork should last a long time. IF you can get a viberating etcher initials on the butt will be forever as well. A carbide marker will do the same thing. If you have a local jeweler do it the quality of the name may increase pride of wonership. |

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, you're calling the William Morris Agency, R- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - If it was me marking the rods I would have small medalions made with each students name formed in raised letters. The medalions would be firmly attached to the rod butt. After the trip and a through indoctrination into the code of fly fishing, the code of the west and a promise never to go starkraving mad on roff the medalion would be heated red hot and burned into their skin ( pick a spot ). The ceramony should be held at the Shaolin temple if there is running water nearby. Try to invite David Carradine to the burning in of these new flyfishers. |

Or you can use decals, which are available here; http://www.decalconnection.net/ http://www.blotspens.co.uk/acatalog/...r_Inks_10.html http://www.shofftackle.com/tools.html http://www.pilotpen.co.uk/products/i...nd%20Lettering http://www.flyforums.co.uk/showpost....79&postcount=2 When finished, seal with flexcoat or similar varnish. TL MC When finished, seal with flexcoat or similar varnish. You must degrease the blank with alcohol or similar before you write on it, or apply decals. The result must also be varnished to make it more or less permanent. There are lots of methods extant. TL MC |

I am sure you can order some pens from the internet. Let the students sign their rods near the cork and then varnish over it (ala custom made rods). The same with the reels - I'd use the reel seat - and fly boxes. Or, if you have access to a Dremil tool, engrave their names on the reel seat and boxes. Hey, just think. If one of these kids turns out to be the next Lee Wulff, you could have a priceless treasure some day. d;o) Dave |
