Default Lessons of the Day

First off I'ld like to brag a little bit. In yesterday's Pro/Vet Veteran's
Families Benefit Tournament I got the 2nd place big fish. A 5.20 pound
largemouth. Chris Walker had 1st big with a 5.52 I think. John Turner and
Dave Willhide were 1st place and 2nd place pro/boaters respectively.

Anyway... here is the moral of the lesson. If you know you should do
something then do it. Don't put it off. Do it now.

Last weekend I won the YVRGC derby. Not because I'm a great angler, but
because I got lucky, had some good bites, and put almost every bite in the
boat. It was only a 3 fish limit that day, but I did put 5 keepers in the
boat. My 3 best where pretty darn good (13.64 for 3 fish).

Using the same rod spooled with 50lb braid I started flipping yesterday at
the Pro/Vet tournament. I whacked a couple keepers first thing in the
morning, and several shorts...

P.S. Ronnie, No. I didn't throw any weightless plastics. I flipped all
day, and my arm is killing me this morning.

Default Lessons of the Day

There used to be a show on called Angler on Tour or something like that. I
watched it a few times, and I hated it. The guy would do a show about his
personal experience preparing for tournament, fishing the tournament, and
recap afterwards. Its a good premise except he enver seemed to have a good
finish in any of those I watched, and his recap always sounded to me like
making excuses.

He would say, "I really didn't have the chance to prefish the way I wanted
to." Sounds like an excuse to me. More accurately I think he should have
said, "Because I didn't take the time to prefish properly the way a serious
pro should it cost me to not have more options open during the tournmant. I
wasted time during the tournament looking for spots and looking for fish
when I should have been fishing."

JMO. On the other hand, his new show where they do heads up competition
between two pros fishing out of the same boat is a lot more fun.

Analyze your performance, admit your mistakes, and use that to do better
next time. Don't make excuses like your performance is not your fault.
