I mean, we had frost Thursday night....and Sunday night it was too hot to
open the windows, at least for us old luxury minded folks. Anyhow, the wife and I and the dog walked down to the river. While they strolled the park I hopped in the river and threw a few wooly buggers. I fished for an hour and caught two smallmouth - smallish but feisty and six rock bass. The rock bass were exceptionally fat, of a disagreeable temperament and put a healthy bend in a five weight. I remember Tom joking (very politely and with much grace) when we were fishing below three streamer Stan's and I was down stream and found a honey hole of rock bass...I stayed there! I'm tellin' ya, ounce for ounce, they are the baddest on the planet. Anyhow the weather has finally broke for us here in Ohio...good times a comin'! john |

Too much fun and, in that lake at least, tasty. GeoC. |

I have been hitting it each evening and the buggers have been consistently the deal. The lakes I can get to in the evening don't have smallmouth or rock bass...I have been picking up largemouth and big bluegill. Also on a 5 wt. Threw some foam poppers tonight and they did ok...I guess maybe a bit early yet. It's a good way to end the day. My fishing picks up in a few weeks...yip, I am a school teacher. Then I will head to the southern Missouri smallmouth and trout streams quite a bit. We fish as many weekends during schoolyear as we can. |
