Default Digital Cameras--waterproof and macro (fly pics) capabilities

Any thoughts on the best cameras for under $300.

I want to be able to take decent pics on the stream, as well as take pics of
flyz I have tied or used to catch trout. I realize $300 probably won't buy
the best on the market, but its all an uneducated hillbilly like myself can
afford, presently.

I trust user opinion much more so than anonymous camera reviews, so please
let me know what you use, recommend, or would not recommend.

Thanks guyz,
Op

Olympus Stylus 810 (now a 1010). Takes great pictures - point and
shoot. Has some good features - read reviews. Biggest downfall - no
eyepiece, but instead a screen.

Most importantly, I have accidently immersed it in three feet of water,
twice, with the lens out, once in Maine and the other time in
Patagonia. In Maine I dried it out by the wood burning stove. In
Patagonia I dried it out in the guides's truck with the windshield
defroster. No trouble either time. Still takes good pics.

I received such an outstanding response to the original post, I figured that
I pose another question.

Any thoughts on Pentax's *NEW* Optio WS80--primarily interested in it Macro
capabilities.

See Specs. WS80:

I have the Olympus 720 Predecessor to Dave's Very bright screen - much
brighter than the Optio and its waterproof to q10 ft abnd shockproof for 5
ft

Buy it at B & H Photo-- beware of online camera dealers !!!
