Default Anybody Tried Tenkara Fly Fishing?

Okay, got sucked into the adverts. Spending tons of money of rods,
reels and lines for fish that are within a few feet of your feet.
I like the concept of Tenkara (Japanese form of fly fishing with long
"dapping" style rods and the line tied to the end of the rod, no
reel).
With a 15' rod (telescopes to 20") and equivalent line length tucked
into the back of my vest, I can see about 90% of my nymphing being
done with this rod. Also, when dapping would be the thing to do (such
as last year at Penns when the drakes covered the water), to have this
rod available would be very helpful.
Anybody tried it or seen it?
