We've had enough rain lately to dirty the river, if not bust the
drought. But, hopeful, I drove down to look, thinking I might test a snow bunny GWG pattern. I never rigged a rod, too muddy, but I did take a bit of a walk. There was a new ( since I was on this section last ) sign conspicuously posted warning that a Mountain Lion was known to be in the area ( a nasty blackberry riparian jungle ) and to exercise care since they are 'unpredictable' Kinda cool Larry ( who really doesn't live in anything you'd think even close to wilderness ) |

Larry Are you going to Alberta to fish this summer? Fred I "think" so Fred. But plans and I have never gotten along well and even less so since I retired. I tend to go where and when the mood strikes me. Last year I moved around more than in the previous seasons partly because my bride joined me and there was a need to keep her entertained and partly because my new truck makes pulling the trailer through the mountains much more pleasant. I've never fished the Crowsnest or the Bow or the Raven or the etc etc but I've never fished lots of places. The choice between possible new flame and old loves is one I usually decide in favor of the known and cherished. I WILL ( god willin and all ) get to Craig and the Missouri for a couple weeks and that is pretty damn close to the Calgary to Carseland (sp?) section of the Bow that I most covet to add to my list. |

I have fished the Bow, Crowsnest and Oldman Rivers The Oldman , I think, is the prettiest. - IMO The Bow goes right thru the city of Calgary and altho I have fished it successfully I do not wanrt to be near a city and Calgary keeps growing. If you do deside to fish the Crowsnest or any oother Alberta Rivers I live not too far fro the Canada Border 40 -60 miles or so to Libby MT or Troy- so let me know and perhaps fish on your way. The Yaak river calley is remote and pretty Fred Fred |

F&S or one of the magazines about the HUGE catfish found in the tailwaters of a small dam in the city center. The story had no mention of trout. Must have been a transplanted Texan. cheers oz |

In the Bow thru the city of Calgary 8-10 yrs ago There were quite a few healthy rainbow trout. I can attest to that! and when I left I did not lessen the hearty population. However, the explosion of human habitat and population growth may have adversely affected the Bow??? Fred |
