It hit the Philippines very hard, and looks like it may increase in
strength on its way to the mainland. I hope you and yours are ok. I
lived through a couple of nasty ones in the 50s while in Japan.

I have to make the big decision tomorrow before dinnertime if I should
cancel my plane tickets or not, and stick around to keep an eye on

shows the track going directly through the airport, with landfall
pretty much precisely when our flight is supposed to depart (Friday
night at 2300). The text says all the different projection models are
in very high agreement of the track (with the usual uncertainties). If
they're right and its a direct hit, and we're delayed by 6 hours or
so, we'll miss our connecting flights, our car and hotel rentals will
change, and on the dominoes fall. Might be worth just deciding to
change our tickets now, delay our departure for a day or two and skip
the first phase of our vacation.

Hmm, hard decisions....keeping my eyes glued to the models.

There was an air traffic controller in the USAF that was at Travis AFB
in northern California. He was assigned the role of military liason
to San Franciso. October 17th, 1989, the famous World Series
Earthquake leveled his apartment building in Frisco. He lost
everything.

They sent him to Clark AB in the Phillipines. He'd been at Clark 3
months when Mt Pinatubo blew up in June of '91. He lost everything.

He and his family were evacuated with nothing but the clothes on their
backs to Homestead AFB in Florida. On August 24th 1992, Hurricane
Andrew leveled it. He lost everything.

You two related? I only do the small stuff, so my danger radius is
only a few feet. You're on the "national and international" disaster
level. Do you get a call from the President saying "country X is
****ing us off, we need you to go there and "teach" them a lesson?"

LOL, the difference between you and me, Frank, is that you are IN your
own danger radius, while mine seems to start a few feet away from me
and radiate outward. So far, I've walked away untouched by a flood, a
Great Quake, a plane crash, a major train derailment, an African coup,
and terrorist bombing, and a mass riot. Still waiting on the alien

I think you'd be in trouble if Frank and I were together in a
lightning storm, no matter where you stand. The risk field would
emanate from me, compress at Frank, and there would be no null points
anywhere in between. Except right where Frank had been standing just a
