Mr. Fontanares,

My son Lance Lindsey, received your name and address from Mr. Kim Ryan along
with a very helpful package of descriptive materials of your products.
Please thank Mr. Ryan for us. Lance and I are trying to port our fishing
lures to foam and are considering your products.

We received brochures that seem to indicate that LD45 and PPA30 are closest
to fit our needs. Do you sell other similar density foams we should be
considering?

We note that LD45 is sold 2000x100x30 and 1500x1000x30mm which I think is
78 3/4 x 39 3/8 x 1 3/16" and 58 7/8 x 39 3/8 x 1 3/16" sheets. Is this
correct? What size does PPA30 come in?

Our sample brochure shows LD45 in yellow and PPA30 in white. What other
standard colors does LD45 and PPA30 come in? We are interested in white,
lemon yellow, gloss black, chocolate brown, frog green, bright red and
grey. Are these available?

Lance and I are interested in applying other colors and designs to your
foam's base color. We will be spraying, brushing and/or dipping to
introduce the appropriate top color which we would then like to protect by
overspraying with a clear material. What paint, epoxy, etc. do you
recommend for use upon your foam products that would not degrade in water
under heavy use?

As you can imagine, Lance and I will have to perform several steps in
machining, shaping and/or thermoforming your product to fit our needs. What
adhesive do you recommend for joining two or more of your products? May we
have two or more sheets 24 x 24 inches or larger in order to test out your
products?

Please send to:

Any questions call me at 503-263-6352

Thank you sincerely,
John Lindsey

I'm such a smuck! Sorry to bother with posting an email here, g

My son has been on my case for years to get something better than cork for
popping bug patterns. Over the years cork from Portugal has steadily
declined in quality so it is really a pain in the well you know to work
with. Just yesterday I looked down at one of my cork poppers and the cork
had just disintegrated on the back cast! Not just tore out of the slot but
the cork had just fallen all apart!!!

We've been playing around with various foams with limited success. If they
are the right density, they do not float. If they float, they do not hold
supergluing to a hook. Other times they cannot be machined. If they are
the right density, float and hold glue, they are the color of a bathroom
deposit and won't hold paint! Ugh! The quest goes on. Any ideas would be
appreciated.

My test run is about 100 bodies per size. Trying to hold all variables
constant except one means I screw up lots of bodies so I need lots of
material to play around with. Of course I'll share with everyone on this NG
who wants some when I come up with something that works.

Um...don't hold your breath. I'm such a smuck!

John

I use a foam called ethafoan for popping bugs and Booby Flies
(www.bishfish.co.nz/articles/boobyfly.htm Ethafoam is basically the foam
used for outdoor mattresses, and comes in a range of colours. I cut out
tubes ( using filed down sections of car arials - yea miss-spent youth) to
get the right diametre. The tube is then threaded onto to hook, and the tube
can be shaped by judicious 'binding' with the thread.

Hope this helps,
